I sold the original seat, but there are several options. I have solo's, with removeable passenger pads, from Mustang. Just get the one for the earlier shovelhead, cut the front claws off the bottom, and just use the side mounts to the frame tube. I have both the Vintage and Cobra. I also have the Mustang Fastback, which is made for the 85/86 FX.

Default 1985 Wideglide seat

Hi
I'm after a 1985 Wideglide or superglide aftermarket seat. Something with a bit more comfort than the standard one. I know they are hard to find but was wondering if anyone out there has one and wants to sell?
Regards
cooky

I know its an old thread - but why not keep this seat topic in one place.

I have a 1985 with a seat that not the right fit. I saw the options of modifying a shovelhead seat from Mustang, but Mustang doesn't make those anymore.
So I will be looking at used... and would like to see what the base on the original seat looks like.

Can anyone take a picture of their stock seat underside?

Also, does the stock seat fit over the little round frame lug at the back of the tank? What is that lug for? Left over from the old pogo seats?

Here are pics of the seat area frame on my '85 FXWG.

Thanks,
Ed

that "frame lug" doesn't belong there. Somebody added it, probably to mount the front of a spring solo.

Thanks, that makes sense with what looks like a spring mounting part at the bolt for the rear shock.

Looks like its grinding off time.
