I pulled off a lot of the accessories and sold them, put the stock bars back on and made a couple more friends here on the forum.

I am about to lower it, if I can find the time! And researching cams now… The bike came with slip-ons only.. so I have opened up the air flow and it is coughing..I'll fix that soon when I settle on a cam. Absolutely love this bike!

Thanks, it's been in pieces for two months.. Going to have it back together soon.. Rewired the rear end electrical, powder coated a few things and rechromed a few.. I'll put pictures up when I'm done..

 

Oh yeah! I love my EVO too. My 99 Softail Custom just turned over 50,000. I pulled the plugs today to replace them as the ones in it had 10,000 on them and that is when I change them. Both plugs had a light tan on the insulator, and the stripe was in the middle of the curve. Timing and mixture seems really good.

Then I took it out for a ride and smiled all the way. When I got home I still could not wipe the smile of my mug. Every time I ride it I love it a little more and when you can make a 75 year old smile with all of the aches and pains we have it is a major thing.

I have the original pillow seat and buckhorn bars, and an engine guard with highway pegs. It is almost like sitting in my Lazy Boy rocker at home. But I get to listen to the music of the drag pipes while tooling down the back roads with the sun glinting off of the head light. It just don't get any better. Long live the long legged EVO's.

 

More to do but happy with how it's going so far! Rockers were easy and it rides great!

 

Man.... I hate bike that don't look like they've been ridden........ lol... looks good man... now get out and ride.....

 

HELP PLEASE Fixing 98'EvoWideGlide OilPan, new to FX's do I have to take whole tranny out to change the OP gasket ??

 

Probably, if the oil pan is under the trans. Or with luck you might be able to drop the pan and slide it backwards towards the rear tire. If HD was smart at designing motorcycles that's how they'd have designed it.

That's a bummer project if you have to pull the motor to do that.

 

Yup, remove swingarm (and wheel, of course) and jack the motor up slightly. That should provide clearance to slide the pan out backwards.
