Yeah, Dan, that's exactly what I think happened.

Since the frame is a 2009, and the engine is a HD crate, it will be a 1999 version. Since the twinkie motors took over that is the only year/version crate motor HD made.

Maybe it is different in Tejas, but most assembled bikes are titled using whatever numbers are on the frame. My '99 crate motor bike is titled as a 2006.

Thanks for the help. Got it squared away. I did both solutions. Switched to the K&N oil filter & swapped the lines around. Worked great and isn't leaking a drop.

Did you do any tests to verify what the root cause even was? As it stands now we have no idea what the fix actually was. Even just doing them 1 at a time would have explained what was happening. Just saying, I was following the thread and curious to the outcome. You say it's fixed, and I'm glad you were able to do that. But what was root cause?

ummm....... I'm gonna guess it was improper oil line routing.

Right; I think you misunderstood me - he said the frame was a 2009 Santee, but that it had an HD Evo crate motor. If that engine was purchased from HD after 1998, it will be a 1999 model engine.

My 1987 Sloptail has a 1999 crate motor in it. I bought a 1999 parts manual and service manual when I swapped the crate motor in because there are some differences, especially compared to the old '87.
