Default 89 FXSTC butterfly to CV swap

so instead of dragging out my thread from before (https://www.hdforums.com/forum/evo-c...-89-fxstc.html) , I figured I'd start a new one.

I've finally pieced and parted everything I need to swap my butterfly for a CV. So not only is the fact it is a butterfly carb bad enough. I have attached a better view as to why it was running so bad. WOW.

However, I'm also looking into the best way to remove the throttle cables, and of course re-install them on the CV.

I don't know if it is the best way but I just shorten up the cable adjusters all the way then take a right angled pick and work the cables out of the wheel on the carb.
I don't remember right now what that wheel is called.
You may have to rotate the wheel to give you some more slack.

Getting the old cables off is easy. I had to peel off some of the plastic cover and unroll some of the wire on the cables to fit the CV. It was easy. I was never quite happy with the CV and went with the S&S Super E.

Looks like somebody used a screw that was a bit too long to fit.

Not an uncommon screw-up.

Spring the spring loaded cable holder back so the throttle cable goes loose and pull the one end up over and off and pull the nippled end off the home. Wow did any of that make scence to you guys?

Try to find comparable model in years with CV and use those cables.

Well being a newbie that was gibberish!

JP has the same throttle cables for both the 96 and the 89, so I'm hoping I can get by with the same cables once I get them off.
