Run your bike and see if the oil level stabilizes at a certain level. If so then that is the norm, it doesn't have to meet a certain number of quarts/oil change.

HD says that the evo can use 1qt. in 500mi and be considered normal oil consumption, the only time I saw that was on a hot as hell trip to Austin, Tx. a couple summers ago.

Do not leave the crankcase breather open to atmosphere without a filter of some sort, especially in Mandeville next to Lake Pontchartrain and near the Gulf salt air. Plus when it rains or the roads are wet you could get water in the crankcase.

BTW: I lived in Madisonville on 1085 just off 22.

Getting a lot of good insight for that I'm greatful !!

It gets a bit hot when I ride maybe that's what's going on..
