I hope OP gets this sorted and reports back. I'm curious to see what it turns out to be.

Had a friend who had a similar problem where it ran good at low revs but would cut out over about 2800 rpm.

Turned out to be the rotor was loose on the camshaft and would work then wobble at high rpm.

I've seen plugs not fire under compression, but never had one die because of it.

Well…. sorry for the delay but wanted to get back to you guys just so you know the outcome, checked the cup behind the ignition and it was good and in the correct spot. Then i checked compression and had no compression on either cylinder!!! That lead me to taking the cam cover off and really see what was up. FOUND---- the pinion shaft was broken just behind the gear, pushed the broken side into my cam cover and chewed it all up. Not good! so now it's on to pulling the engine out and splitting cases for a new crank. Prob gonna go with a 89inch stroker crank from S&S. Thanks for all the help out there!!

That'll do it.
Op,
Very good choice on the rebuild. Go for it!

How did that happen? Sounds like something wasn't done right.

No personal experience, but I've heard that a poor fitting cam gear (too tight) can snap a pinion shaft. It would whine pretty loud if it were that tight, I'd imagine.
