Is an Evo capable for us?
#21
Hi, I've just been to look at a 1997 1340 fuel injection Ultra Classic that's for sale. My last Ultra was a 1550 upgrade & we toured Europe with ease. Even the mountains of Switzerland were effortless. We're thinking of doing a similar tour soon & this bike's come up just up the road from me. It's spotless with 8k on the clock, but ive never had an Evo & as it's a private sale, little chance of a test ride. I always ride 2 up & someone told me that the bike would be too underpowered for what I want to do.
I could pay more & go newer, but the bike is so local & in mint condition. The wife fell in love with it. It's not a bargain by any means, so it's really about capabiliy. Can you offer advice?

As for your planned purchase I suggest you take a close look at the tyres and budget to replace them, unless they are recently changed. It's quite possible it is on the original tyres, which is is not wise to ride on! As for buying it - you're in the Evo section - it's what we do, ride them, so don't hold back......
