Default 95 Electra Glide FLHT gauges

Hello all I am new to the boards and new to riding. I recently took a 95 Electra Glide FLHT in trade and noticed the speedometer in the gauge cluster is dead. I was wondering if anyone had any info on what year(s) would fit as a direct replacement? Also would upgrading to a new inner fairing to a post 95 model Electra Glide be a easy swap in with just a bit of wiring and new gauge cluster.

Any help would be great appreciated!

Be sure to check the speedometer drive located to the left of the front wheel. It has a tab that is inserted into a slot in the brake disc. That and the cable are more common failure points than the speedo head.

Changing the inner fairing also would mean changing the outer and the windshield, as well as (I believe) most of the instruments. And ignition switch. And probably some other stuff. Bad idea.

As stated above check the tab on the drive or cable first. As for the fairing conversion it's not bad to do if you are comfortable with wiring and ingenious enough to figure out how to make things work. A lot of parts to gather would need a donor fairing harness off the post 95 and a wiring schematic for both yours and the 96 up. Also make sure you get a cable driven speedo not a electronic one.

Thanks Diesel68mc for the suggestions. I do really like the look of the 96-01 Gauge cluster and I know they are much easier to find then the 89-95 "breadbox" cluster.
