Default Front tube oil seals leaking

1998 RoadKing air suspension

I've got a leak on the front fork tube and have the stk air ride suspension , i have to decide weather to stay air or change to heavier springs when i do the seals
Pros and Cons to changing ?

I have had no problems with the air and enjoyed the adjust-ability as i ride anywhere from light to two up fully loaded

any suggestions / insight

Thanks
Dave

Change springs, keep the air.

I'd go with better springs, not heavy springs, you can always put more spring with the air pressure.

Standard height Progressive springs. You won't believe the difference.

That's always a dangerous approach! As you have to dismantle your forks to replace the seals I suggest you also change the bushings, then rebuild using single-rate Race Tech springs. They have a calculator on their website, so you can get the correct rate for your weight. You could also consider adding Intiminators, which get good reviews on improving damping and ride quality.

Rebuilding HD forks is easy. I have progressive springs and love em.

I just completed the change over to progressive, front and rears. Had a tube leaking so i figured now is the time. Went a 1/4 over on the spacer length and 2 oz of fork oil over stock spec and i love the stability. Makes my softail feel like a Dyna.....very firm...... and i used the standard springs in front.

I'm thinking about putting progressive springs in my 98 ultra (im getting a clicking noise in the front end under hard breaking and pretty much any bumps with 15 psi) , are there any special tools needed to take em apart and put em together? Do you keep the air with the progressive springs?
