I bet that you are Racist too then...based on that statement. You can't think that every person that rides a Twin Cam is an asshat...many of them have ridden for many many years and know a lot about different Harleys. I have met a few Evo riders that are ********* too.

There is a big difference between "need" vs. "want".
If all of our decisions were based upon "need"...there would be a lot less purchases. As a "need"...the Harley is transportation, so 30 HP is probably all you "need". But, if you "want" to have fun...then you "want" more horsepower and torque.

Back in the mid 90's I decided to install some performance enhancing components on the 80" Evo in my '93 Fatboy. Stage II type stuff:
K&N air cleaner, EV-27 cam, Python-II exhaust, Dyna 2000 ignition, heads ported/polished, carb re-tuned, etc
Bike ran great and seemed fast and powerful. I think the loud exhaust along with the vibrations from the solidly mounted engine to the frame gives the sensation of traveling much faster than one actual does. Rode the bike everywhere including two cross country trips in the '90s.
One afternoon, I hopped on my '91 Honda 600F2 since I hadn't ridden it in quite some time. This bike also had the basic performance enhancements, K&N air cleaner, carb re-tuned, ignition advancer, V&H full exhaust, etc
Before the ride, I would have bet the FatBoy would have been faster 0-60 mph. The 600F2 was in a different category and there was no way the FatBoy could touch it. And a 600 is slow compared to the liter bikes......
I'm all for high HP, but the reality is that most HD's can't compare to the speed/power in the inline-4 race bikes.
My brothers ZX-14R is putting down about 190 HP and 113 ft-lbs of torque to the rear wheel. You would need a serious build to keep up with that and it probably wouldn't be as reliable and definitely would cost serious dollars.
