Default Air Ride Rear shocks 1994 Road King...

Hi,

I bought the bike last week, and have been going through her. The rear shocks aren't taking any air... I'm curious if the valve is different from a normal shrader? The front end took air fine with a little bicycle pump.

Thanks,

Zach

Mine were leaking also which gave it a bouncing ride...I replaced them wit a set of Dyna shocks they work great even two up.

Be careful how much pressure you put in the system. Doesn't take much. If the back ones are shot pull all of the air lines and shocks out and replace. I found a set of progressive 440's that seem to work well.

Hi Zach and welcome to HDF. That valve is a stock auto/bike type, nothing special. Your bike pump is quite good enough for use both front and rear. Start by checking the air lines and connectors, to make sure none of them are leaking. Your shocks are over 20 years old and to be blunt weren't exactly hot stuff when new, so don't be surprised if they are shot. As for replacements that is a long story only worth telling if you decide to change them!

Thanks Guys,

I got the rear air shocks to pump up... Had the saddle bags off, and side panels off. I noticed that there was a stem extension on them that wasn't letting air in, that was the weird looking valve.

Thanks,

Zach
