Yup. Goes with the territory. I seem to recall there was a good amount of red RTV that was used somewhere too. I could only go back into the shop once when the first wrench showed me what had happened (and the groove in the inner primary).

I cannot for the life of me get the clutch hub off. I had a steering wheel puller laying around but it's tight as hell and I really don't want to break anything. How hard is the hub supposed to be on the shaft. I even heated it and nothing

What year bike is that? You really need the right puller.

If you have the tapered main shaft that's par for the course.

89....I have one coming.....doesn't seem like this is gonna do it.....too much stress for only 2 little bolts.


im going to upgrade to a 91 enclosed belt drive and a 91 6 speed builders kit.......

You can actually make a puller with a piece of 1/4' STEEL PLATE, a drill press and 1 nut to fit the shaft of your current puller. this way you can utilize all 4 bolts on the hub...

okay got to this point....do I have to do anything with the rotor? and the snap ring that holds the inner primary bearing in? after removing the 7 bolts it should come off?

No, just remove all the bolts and it should come off.
