Default 1999 or 2000 FXR's Ok For Bigger Guys??

I'm interested in 1999 or 2000 FXR's but before I begin trying to find one I want to know if it's likely they will be uncomfortable for me to ride. I'm 6'2" and weigh 225. Do all 1999 and 2000 FXR models fit the same? Thanks.

I'm 4" shorter than you, and find the FXR a tad cramped for longer runs. Highway pegs help a lot.

Beyond that, you just have to try it for yourself.

It's a subjective thing. Only you will know what's right/comfortable for you.

I'm 6'1", 210lbs, and I doubt your legs are any longer than mine. My FXR is very comfortable, and don't have, nor want highway pegs. I prefer a traditional riding position on a motorcycle. I like my feet underneath me, so I can shift my weight around on the bike, if necessary. I feel like I don't have good control of the bike with my legs stretched out in front of me, and all my weight on my tailbone. It's a personal preference thing, and you're going to have to decide what is right for you.

Regarding the '99-2000 FXRs, you've got three different models there. There shouldn't be too much of a difference in the riding position between the three. The FXR2 is the only one that had a 21" laced front wheel...the FXR3 and 4 had 19" front wheels.

I'm 6'3" 295 pounds and rode my '89 FXR with mid controls for 21 years with no problems and my O/l rode with me on 75% of my long distance trips.
I am in the process of building another FXR now.

The answer is, yes a larger guy can comfortably fit on an FXR.

Any big twin powered bike will fit you since there is an abundance of aftermarket parts such as handlebars, seats, controls, etc that will let you get it to your liking. The only mistake that big guys make is if they buy a vrod or sportster, and then, you still have some leeway there as well.

Obviously, you want to start with something that is as close to what fits you as possible.

Taller guys do better with forward controls while shorter guys do better with mids. Even within those two main categories, there are kits that move them more forward, rearward, inboard, or outboard. Floorboards work great for everyone, especially for people that have been riding a while because you can move your feet and legs around while riding instead of being locked into one position. I bought my Heritage on a whim. I had been most,y attracted to Softail custom with forward controls but decided to give this a try. Before buying it, I didn't quite get it when it came to forward controls, but after trying it, I found I liked it, especially on longer rides.

Ditto. I'm 6'2" and my feet are on the highway pegs on any trip of any distance. Keep the mids though. They are what that bike is supposed to have.
