Default Winter Project Came Early

Well, the old girl and me ran our first Iron Butt Saddle Sore 1000 yesterday and both came through with flying colors. This morning I woke up fine, but the bike..... not so much.

Hit the starter and heard a sound best described as parts hitting other parts that they aren't supposed to hit. Noise stopped as abruptly as it started, but only fired on one cylinder. My portable compression tester (thumb) confirmed close to zero compression on the rear jug. I suppose a valve hung open and bent. Why and exactly what happened probably doesn't matter much. The cure is the same.

I had planned to do the lifters this winter (overdue) and valves (light smoke if I ran dino oil: probably a seal). And rings and a hone if indicated by a compression test. I'm pretty sure the list just got longer.

I'll take pics and let y'all watch when I tear into it. Good chance to upgrade some things.

I've got all the S&S part numbers you need to turn that into an 89" stroker.
Just send the heads to Scott at Hillside.

Just a thought.

Was already thinking about it. Depending what it needs, the difference may be minimal.

Very sorry to hear that Owtlaw. But glad to see you have a positive attitude about the upgrades. I'm sure you'll bounce back bigger & badder than ever before!

Wishing you the best.

Hopefully just a simple fix. 89' from Scott should put down some good ## 80+hp 80-90 tq. Depending on how hot (compression ) you go.

Those were my numbers with standard displacement.

I doubt I'll stroke it unless the crank is toast. It sounded like the valve got clearanced pretty quickly, so I'm hoping for the best.

I was wrong that's a mild tune low compression.
With woods 9 in FXR he got 105hp 105tq
I Re checked his website
