Only gonna crack the cases if I need to. I will check things out.
Pulled it mostly because I want it super clean to paint black and polish the fins. And for the experience of the whole kit and kaboodle.
Tranny coming out also, started leaking really bad, gonna dig into that also to see what else she needs.

I built a stand for my Evo, could send ya a pic tonight if ya want. I used a swivel base from a bar stool. Works like a dream.

Well here's my stand, it's strong.
Who says there is no place for wood screws and lag bolts on an EVO ?

Obviously a carpenter by trade...lol....

For future reference you should relieve the pressure off the cam before you take the cam chest cover off. It can do damage to the inner cam bearing..

Too funny, I work in a shop that does machining and carpentry, I'm sort of a carpenist.LOL
I didn't want to cut ignition wires so I pulled the cover and left on bike but I did close the valves first, slid off easily. I can't believe that ignition is30 years old.

How do I get the pins out of the piston, both clips off, book says they push out easily. They stop with a click noise, only move about 1/8" back and forth.
Also here is a pic of bad spot on cam lobe.
Cam bearing says torrington on it,has play in it, will replace if I can figure out how to remove it.

I'd tap the end of the pins easy with a drift. If the clips are out, they should slide out without much effort. Bearing replacement is easy with the "special tool". THC brought his by and we had the old one out and the new one pressed in in a matter of minutes. Lacking access to the correct tool, some have reported success removing the bearing with a blind hole puller and installing the new one by tapping it in with the old cam. I'm not a fan of this idea.

I got my new bearing at the stealership for $14 or so. It's marked Koyo B138. Pretty sure you can't get Torrington anymore, but the Koyo is a full complement replacement. A bearing supplier probably would have them way cheaper, but you might have to buy a dozen.....

Clips made a burr, the book said they might, got them out, thanks man.
Base gaskets are peeling off by hand, lucky I guess, I little stuck to jugs.
Head gaskets say 60 on them and they measure over .050 thick , normal ?(old ones)
