The EV46 would be a good cam for that bike, but if you wanted to go a bit lower in the rpm band, the EV13, EV23, or EV27 would be good selection in Andrews cams. I run the EV27 in my 93 FLHS and it did wonders for the overall performance of the engine. It works great solo or two up loaded to the hilt.

Here's the quick chart from Andrews:

Check into other cam manufacturers, as there are a few guys running cams from Woods and others.
It is a 96 Fatboy. Case cracked so they put the S&S in and for whatever reason used pre 92 heads when they put It back together. I'm really happy with how the bike runs so I'll probebly stock with the ec46 and just change out the lifters while it's apart.

The only dumb question is the one you didn't ask.

When they first came out S&S said they were for 70-99...after a while they changed it to 93-99...there is a reason the manufacturer does not recommend them for bottom breathers...plus add the fact of many horror stories when the reeds break off. Pretty simple to have the bore oversized and use a regular breather.

Yeah after doing some searching I found a thread that someone from S&S posted on and said just that, about them not being recommended for bottom breathers. Thanks for the heads up.

Ok so got everything to the builder. He's going to bore cylinders .05 over and is recommending 10:1 wiseco forged pistons and cometic gaskets. He says this is a good reliable combo with my EV46 cam and I won't have any problems on pump gas (91 octane here in cali). With this combo and stock heads will the compression actually be 10:1? Tried to use the calculated on big boyz site but I got lost trying.

According to my calculator you will have to have your deck height a .000, a head gasket of .030 and 83 cc combustion chambers in the heads. This will put you a 9.87:1 Static cr and with the ev 46 a dynamic cr of 9.04.

Thanks for that info really appreciate it! Not doing anything to the heads except valve job, seals ect.....Have to check on what Cometic kit he's getting me so I know if its the .030 or .045 head gasket. My main concern is the crap gas we have with the higher compression but he assures me this is a combo they use alot and it works really well.

Oh and whats the compression # that is most important, static or dynamic?

One of those gray areas about the s&s reed breathers that I have always been interested in.
I know integral engine components are different than superficial accessories but many parts work for more applications than the manufacturer specified.
Today I know of more than a few guys running s&s breathers in bottom breathing motors. Fwiw I replaced my nylon gear in my 1998 fltr.
