Default Lucky? Me....

Took my bike to a local indy to have the rocker box gaskets replace. I would have done it myself, but work is crazy, and I just didn't have the time. My 1998 Road Glide has 40,000 miles on it, so I asked him to check the lifters while he had the top off.

He calls me and says the lifters are like brand new, but that the coating on the camshaft was almost gone, and he suggested I replace the cam. So, two days later my bike is not weeping anymore, and she has a nice and perky EV-23 cam in her. He also replace the bearing with a Torrington. It runs nicer than before, and less vibration. Don't know if that was due to the cam or because of the cracked top muffler bracket he replaced. Didn't want to spend the money, but I like the improved performance.

What made you choose the 23?

Looks like he took good care of you. The muffler bracket is my guess on the lessened vibration. And my '98 Ultra with flowed heads, cam and pistons was a bulletproof rider for the 4 years and 65,000 miles that I had it. Great motor.

I picked the 23 because of recommendations on here. I don't ride hard a lot, but I do ride mostly two up.

Sounds like ya got it back in good shape.
Yea I do understand being to busy with work to get things done. Haven't let that happen often but it can be that way.

I have a good indy that I buy most of my parts from and he has done great when I have had him do things.

Just being nosey What did that job set ya back? If you don't mind me asking.

$535 parts & labor. I thought it was fair. Guy is a semi-retired Harley Mech with 35 years experience.
