We liked the bags so much we recently bought a set of LeatherPro's, which are very similar, for our Sporty.

 

I really need to ditch the spoked rims on my old Evo and go with cast as nothing seems to clear the spokes!

I finally finished what should have been a quick project. I picked up my lengthened front brake line, now in stylish steel braid. I also stopped by the fastener store and replaced the cheap Taiwanese chrome bolts with some stuff that I trust. Six bucks. I can dress them up with hot toppers. Installed and took the usual 2 days to bleed. Test ride tomorrow, although probably a short one. Norther rolling in.




I'm not sure I like the angle on the speedo cable, but extended speedo cables are plentiful and cheap. If it gives me problems, I'll get a longer one and rotate the drive clockwise to change the approach angle.

 

Yah, definitely wants to be lower and then follow the line of the brake line ... that'll wear both the cable and caliper.

 

Back down to Earth with a bump! Looking forward to getting on with my front caliper upgrade before long, using the current Brembos, so will have much the same challenge with the speedo cable. If you do get a longer one let us know what brand, for future reference.

 

Test drive complete. Huge difference in stopping power. It's nice to know I can actually lock up the front wheel, but it was interesting discovering that I could. I've got more lever travel than I'm used to, so I'll bleed another session or two to be sure. It may just be a different feel that I have to get used to.

And here's a sort of unrelated tip. Anytime you make any repairs or adjustments around the right bar switches and the bike won't start, check the kill switch first. That's all I'm going to say about that. ;-)

 

Perhaps not the right thing to say on a topic about fitting new brakes.

 

At least you know the kill switch works!!!!!!

On that brake line being too short....do you have stock bars? My fatboy has low bars an I'm wondering if the stock line will work until I can get braided lines. I have a set of those calibers in black....thinking of ordering a plain adapter plate an painting it black.
