Default Transmission Trap Door

Was thinking about a new exhaust, and went out to the frozen garage to see what was needed. I found that my V&H exhaust bracket is cracked. V&H told me that the part is no longer made, and good luck finding it anywhere, as dealers and distributors were and are not sent extra parts. Anyway, I noticed my trap door/bearing housing (HD #35260-90B) has a crack at the upper left dog ear. I won't be able to look at the rest until spring, and I've no idea if some of the other exhaust brackets holes have cracked any place else. I'm thinking about replacing the part, but my service manual has got me taking the primary off to get transmission out just to get this housing off. Is this what is needed? To me it looks like I can take the clutch cover off to get at the bearing housing.

I don't see a crack. You'll need to take that primary off to remove the gearset from the trap door

Yeah, it's there, trust me. Just didn't show up well in the pix. But, yeah, that's what I saw in the SM, too. Taking off the left side to get to the right. Thanks.

Years and years... and years lol ago I put a 5 speed kicker kit in my '91 Evo Softail. I used a tool like the one here... http://www.tejasthumpcycles.com/transmissions/ to remove the trap door while still on the bike. Nothing else had to come off.

I don't remember having any problems doing it, went pretty easy.
