Heavy-duty replacements start at 1.4kw.
The starter was changed mid year on a 90 model...so it could have a 1.0 or a 1.2 depending on when it was built.

What is the purpose of these start buttons?
Is it just to by pass all the switches?
Is it instead of OEM starter switch, or in addition to?

I think most folks use 'em as a backup plan for when the starter relay goes click or a handlebar switch ceases to function.

And with highbars you look badass when you just reach into the guts of her and she cranks over.

Well, DUH!! Same as pressing the starter button with the bike in gear and the clutch engaged, the bike will jump. Basically it's there as a backup that will bypass a flaky relay, ignition switch or starter button. It also helps with a weak battery, as it bypasses the 15 or so amps that the solenoid draws.

NO **** !!! I guess I opened myself up for that one, what I was getting at was I don't choose to start the bike without pulling the clutch too often.
