If you could find a 1/8 npt collar or anything with female threads (1/8 npt) and work the fitting in and out of it a few times.

Maybe that would help get size the fitting down a little to help getting them in the the tank. If the threads have been chromed too that is.

Greenblood, I see you are in the UK. I'm in the US. It will probably be a PIA to try and get you the 2 adapter fittings I have.

No worries, I have used a die to reduce the size of the fittings and all is well.

Spoke too soon. Sorted the npt fittings by retaping them so that's sorted.

Problem is the drain plug now. I bought a 1/2 UNC magnetic plug, but it will only go in two turns, so it must be UNF I thought. So I buys a 1/2 UNF, only to discover that also will only go in two turns! Made some checks only to discover both were UNF! Dealer then sent me out a UNC, but this will only go in one turn! Arrggghhh!!!

I think what has happened is that the fittings all shrunk when being welded in to the stainless tank. The holes are extremely hard and impossible to tap. The only answer seem to be to modify the UNF plugs I have, maybe shave the threads down a touch to help it go in further? The size seems right, the fitting doesn't seem to have any taper to it. I am thinking I have a thread count issue, non standard. This is a crazy situation!

Any suggestions?

Cheers

Steve
