Default 93/94 FLSTN Questions

Hi all,

I'm still on the lookout for an Evo FLSTN, I started a thread a month or two ago when I was looking at a 1995 FLSTN but it sold before I could get to it!

Anyhow, I've been looking at a FLSTN which I think is a 1994 model, but is listed as a 1993.

Here is a link to the bike.

I confirmed with the seller the year the bike was made - 1993. From what I know, that colour scheme was only available on the 1994 FLSTN - so am I right in assuming the bike was made in 1993, to be sold as the 1994 FLSTN?

The other thing that seems unusual to me is the seat. It has the brown cow skin, like the 1993 FLSTN, yet I thought the 1994 models had the black seats. Perhaps they used some left over seats from 1993, on the 1994 models?

can you ask what the 10th digit is on the VIN? if it's P it's 93 if it's R it's 94. At least that's how I think it breaks out.

Color scheme is definitely 94. Vin will tell you for sure. 93s (Moo Glide) bring top dollar if the cowhide is in excellent condition. 94s, not so much.

That's a 94, I don't know what's up with the seat but, it's not a 93 seat either. That one was black and white jersey cow fur hence the nick name moo glide.

Harley introduces each new model year the previous August (or thereabouts). So a '94 model could be made any time from August to December '93 (and through to Jul/Aug '94).

That's a '94, just like mine used to be. The original seats and bags were gray leather with "black angus" fur inserts. The gray leather tends to fade badly, and the black fur wore off, leaving ugly brown leather unless re-stained. The bags are too small to be useful for any real purpose. My original seat and bags are in a plastic bin in the garage, along with the original pipes, mirrors, and a bunch of other stuff.

As was mentioned, H-D's model years run from August to August (like the U.S. car industry used to do). I bought my '94 FLSTN in September of '93, but it's still registered as a '94 model.
