What I think is that you need to learn to "take yes for an answer"!!!!!

You have it dialed in. It is running better than ever....and then you start talking about changing stuff?!?!?

C'mon man!!

I have to agree after seeing the results of swapping it out.

I agree and thanks for the reminder. Keep in mind though that my persistance paid off. If I had stopped yesterday, I wouldnt have discovered the crappy needle. Cant wait to check my fuel mileage! Luckily for jme, its a picture perfect day for riding and I am off. I'll know the results by the end of the day.

Just a guess but I bet your fuel mileage will go up because it is now running where it should be. It is amazing how that can work. Before it was struggling but now free running. If you do not get well over 40 mpg I will be surprised.

47 MPG! Up from 32! I cant believe I put up with this for so long and it was such a simple repair. I even tried to make it jerk and buck and it wont do it. I am amazed. I'll pull a plug here in a little while when it cools off and post another picture . Hope I havent gone too lean now. Oil temp is steady at 200 which it always is so, hopefully, I am OK.

Here are the plugs after 100 miles. Ceramic is very white. Electrode is gray. There is some black carbon on the top edge of the rear plug. None on the front plug. Do I nened to put more miles on it or is it too lean?

Much better,

yes the front looks lean, check for an intake leak, if you can't indicate a leak, try 2 shims under the needle and check again

the rear looks good, correct jetting indicator would be a full turn of color on the base ring just like the rear plug, heat and timing indicator on the ground strap on rear plug looks good too.

Back off the antiseize, if any gets past the threads, it'll foul the plug

I think you had the plugs mixed up in the first picture with the new needle, I think this would be the front plug, the heat mark on the ground is too far back, possibly from being lean.

Thanks for that advise. I felt the front plug was too lean too. I turned the mixture screw out another 1/2 turn and just road 50 miles. I didnt do a throttle chop but will pull the plugs and look at them again in a few minutes.

Yeah..the front plug is too lean. The insulator is still snow white and there is nothing on the base ring. I'll add 2 shims tomorrow morning to the needle.
