Will a stator/Reg from a '91 Softail work? I have the 32 amp setup NIB on the shelf here for 20 years or so. HEY, I've been busy

Yours for postage if you can use it.

they were either 38A or 45A depending on how it was outfitted originally (my FLHRCI was a 38A, i think the full dressers got the 45A because of extra lights/radio/etc)

when I toasted mine, I went with a new cycle electric stator (stock HD regulator) - been just fine the last 2 years.

Well I sure know I won't be using OEM parts anymore if I can help it. On mine or customer bikes.Today 40k on my 12 TC. Burned stator. Compen totally worn out. I guess I will keep the ole style stator in my big motor EVO. These new bikes suck! LOL but I do love both of them. 15 mins on the lift and the stator was out in my lap.Just sucks the new stuff is not as good as our ole EVOs

Default What stator and reg would u use?

Compu-Fiire 40A 3-phase vs. OEM 32A. Works well, been on 2,000+ mile rrips and no problems. Bike starts everytime vs. spotty starting when it was going out on me.

I'd use a Cycle Electric stator and R/R.

I know we're talking about Touring machines here but if you want to stop burning up stators on modern Sportsters I'd also suggest a Cycle Electric stator and regulator/rectifier. The stock R/R on a newer Sportster runs the stator at full capacity all the time regardless of draw.

When I updated that set up on my 84 FLH I went to a 32 amp system from CycleElectric. American made and couldn't be happier.
