Default Compensator/Crankshaft Nut Evo I/II

Hi! Itīs been a long time since last post...and I have no good news from the bike. I started to use the FLHC and a strange noise (tac, tac) started in the engine. I was driving far from home and I had no options...so the noise became louder until the engine stopped (200kms) The piston broke inside the front cylinder. You can imagine the end of the story. Damages: crankshaft, rods, piston, cylinder, head...

So I bought a new (1000kms!) engine. The problem is that my bike is a 87 model, and the engine is from 1996. I have seen that there is some different parts here and there that I need. But I have one question about the compensator nut fitting. Do I have to put a new nut (40392-91) or my old big nut (40392-70) will fit? I donīt want to force the threads...

Thank you!

In 91 they changed the offset on the compensator 1/4"...reason being the old stator covers had a 1/4" spacer made on to it that you could not remove...if you use an older stator cover with the built in spacer you need 40392-70...if you use a newer stator cover with no spacer you need
40392-91...if you have an aftermarket stator cover...they come with a spacer that with work with either one...same thing applies to the shaft extension which must match the nut you use...confused yet?

Ok. I have the new stator/cover from the new Evo (32 amps) So I suppose that Iīll need the new nut (40392-91) That left side shaft is longer in the new Evo engine.
Thank you Tom84FXST!
