800 Miles After Ground Up Motor Rebuild and...
Went out for a ride this morning with a couple buddies. Had 800 miles on the ground up motor rebuild. Pulled up to a stop sign, noticed a burning smell, saw smoke, looked down and it was on fire. Think it was from a bad braided oil line.

Damage assessment? Looks like it was put out with fire extinguisher?
I don't think I would have even thought about taking a pic while my bike was sitting there in flames...I would be scrambling around trying to find something to put out the fire. Scooping up handfuls of dirt or something....
Curious how the oil caught fire back there. Came in contact with exhaust pipe?
EDIT: Just found this for those who have a place to keep one: https://www.amazon.com/Professional-...e+extinguisher
Glad your OK. YD

If there's one thing I hate, it's being on fire.
Glad you're OK, man. Bike looks repairable. New seat, wiring harness, OIL LINES and you should be OK. What kind of lines were those? Did it smell like oil burning or plastic when you stopped? It's hard to get oil started. I wonder if there was a gas component starting it.

Wow! Sure am glad you are ok. Funny how the human brain works or maybe doesn't in my case. I have been racing and riding for the better part of 45 years, I pulled into the yard the other night to find my left leg was covered in gasoline, my 98' Road Glide is the first fuel injected bike I have owned and it seems the seal on the tank line or swivel decided to leak, not a drip like conventional petcocks but a light spray. My first thought? How fast can I get replacement injector lines? I never once thought of a fire extinguisher ?? I am certainly glad that you and the scoot are ok and I thank the good Lord for your post to shake something loose in my head. I will be looking for a suitable fire extinguisher tomorrow
