Do you have the stock ignition.? Stock ignition uses 3 dead revs to help in starting. If you notice your clunk appears to be after the 3rd revolution of the motor. This is when the ignition is applied to fire the A/F mixture in the cylinder. Now if your voes is grounded (Should not be at this point) causing your timing to go full advance it will cause that pre-ignition that you hear as a clunk. I would check to make sure the voes is working properly according to the FSM.
