Default 1988 FLH Electra Glide Electrical Device Locations

Hey all-

I got me a 1988 Electra Glide which was someone else's project. So basically it is partially there and in boxes! The frame was powder coated and re-assembly started but not finished.

The electrical needs major help. The wiring harness is there but all in a ball. I have a factory color coded wiring diagram...which helps me know what wire goes to what device....however I have no clue where anything get mounted / bolted to the frame!

Any early EVO guys out there that can show where everything gets mounted to the frame? CDI box, fuses, relays, pickups, vacuum switchs, etc? I see some areas on the oil tank that look to bolt things to? Under the seat? Under the left side cover?

A photo is worth a thousand words. After I get all the devices hung properly, I am sure the routing and hooking up would go much smoother.

Thanks

There are no fuses. There is no CDI box. That is, it's not capacitive discharge. There is one relay (it goes on top of the oil tank under the right cover).

Breakers: Main is under the seat attached to the left side. Others are inside the fairing. Ignition is screwed to the neck on the left. Vacuum switch under the tank on the left, kinda in the V. The ignition pickup is in the cone. That's the only "pickup." There is a MOLEX connector for the tail lights that is under the left cover near the brake reservoir.

If you don't have one get yourself a factory service manual. An aftermarket one such as a Clymer may also be helpful. Both have photos and diagrams in abundance which will help identify locations of things around the bike. That will also give you specific queries to ask us, instead of a sweeping one which nobody can easily answer, as no single photo is going to help!
