1996 FLHT Elec. Gld Std.

I would like information regarding installing a Tour Pak on my 96 FLHT. I have seen some info that I can use the 97-2008 detachable parts and mounting rack as long as I shim out the hardware on the bike a bit?...Any input would be helpful.
