I see the MoCo has taken the fork drain screws off the touring bikes. Another reason I like my Softail. Fork oil changes are a snap.
My 09 SG has no drain plugs. But the service interval in the Manual is every 50K. I believe the Interval on my FB was every 12months or 10K. I don't know why there is a Difference they share some of the same parts.

Just because the MoCo raised the interval doesn't mean it's a good idea. Fork oil still gets contaminated both by dirt that gets past the seals and wear on internal parts. Depends on how long you want the bike to last.

Don't forget water from condensation and the fact metal is porous. Metal sucks water in. Look at a tan motor after riding n the rain. Actually the chrome might prevent some porosity.

I dumped out all the original oil in my SG forks along with all the other OEM internal parts. I installed Progressive Mono tubes.

Baloney and provolone. But really I learned more so about it with old cars. If you have a tan motor, look at it after you wash the bike. It will be darker from the motor being wet. Really.
