Default Engine Guard

I recently got a 1995 Heritage Softail Special and want to change the original engine guard to the mustache style one. I found a smoking deal on one from a 2003 Heritage Brand new. Can anyone give me any insight as to if this will work on the earlier model frame?

Thanks in advance.
