Escaping from the 90's
Well the time has come to let the past go. Over the winter, I'll be replacing all the Gold LTRRTL do-dads with plain chrome. First to go was the gas lid:
I had the OEM one save, just added a push button latch to it:
Still to go:
Replacements waiting:

Heh.
Someday, all our garages will have walls covered with de-installed LTR/RTL stuff.

My motto for quite a few years has been...
"LPB/PBL"
(Live to Pay Bills/Pay Bills to Live) LOL. But Harley didn't formalize that theme so I went with the understated stuff a while back...Like your choices, the simple approach.

I can see it. BTW, those handlebars you sent me are also going on over the winter with a new set of Iso-Grips.

Thanks. It was looking a bit dated and old. Like it's owner....

I was going to get the OEM Harley parts for the primary case, but then I got the prices...
Almost $70 for just the derby cover...
The originals were in just polished aluminum, so I couldn't re-use them on the chrome primary cover.
I did get a deal on eBay for The MoCo nostalgia bar and shield air cleaner cover.

There is a forum sponsor that makes custom covers. I had him make several items for me that turned out great.
Just for kicks, try selling the LTRRTL covers on eBay to see what they will fetch.

Conches, studs and fringe under control? A little dab'll do you.
