I think I'd go with the 88 FXR. I question a bike with 26K miles that someone has been into. The '07 would probably be OK too, if you want a twinkie.

I'd go for the '91 for the splined shaft tranny.
Granted I'd spend a bunch of money changing stuff but that's the one I'd choose.

I would say it depends on what you're comfortable with....I love the evo's an would go with the 91...sweet looking bike....but I don't mind tinkering with my bike to keep it going an doing my own work....a Harley Dealership won't work on an evo...if you want a good hit the starter an go bike with tons of aftermarket accessories the superglide is the choice....that sounds like a good deal, big twin at sportster price, an the dealerships will work on it if you chose. Some of the fxr guys will prob chime in but you're limited on stuff like seats an exhausts on the fxr's. sometimes I miss EFI on my bike...hitting the starter an going is nice, sometimes I don't want to chock an warm up before riding.

Depends on the reason why they went into it.
Did they do it for repairs or just because they wanted more power?

Hess it may have just been for performance upgrades but I'd ask for paperwork if he has it....that air cleaner would have to go, maybe a dif headlight too.

Texashillcountry

Thanks for chiming in. They owner told me something about a Pinion Shaft and Bad Lifter. Took it to a Professional Shop and told them to fix what ever was wrong.New Lifters,Crane Cam,Pistons,Rings and Port and Polish Heads. All Paperwork available. My only concern is I have heard that 89-92 cases were prone to crack.

Thanks Again

Did the shop check the runout on the pinion shaft and verify that it was ok?

I made sure that was my first question after he told me why it had had work done to it. His Mechanic is a Friend of his .so I am going to call him at the Shop and get more info on what exactly he did to the FXR.Unfortunately the 07 Superglide is gone, but did find an 06 WideGlide that looks inviting!

To be honest I wouldn't bother.
Too much gone wrong with that bike unless you are looking for a project IMO.

Of your remaining choices I'd go with the '88.
