Here is how to determine if the Inner Primary Bearing is causing the noise:
Transmission in neutral, clutch lever released, noise is heard.
Pull in clutch lever, noise is still present.
Drop transmission into first gear, noise stops.

Noise goes away when clutch is pulled in. Also when cruising there is no noise but as soon as I let off while in gear the noise is present and as soon as I pull clutch in it goes away.

FWIW when my tranny mainshaft bearing was starting to go out it only made noise under power in 4th gear.
Yeah I know that doesn't help you much, I was just telling you what happened with mine.
I still say the only way to tell is open her up and take a look.

I sure hope it's an inner primary bearing.

Once you get that deep into the primary's, an IPB or trans main shaft (fifth gear) bearing is not a big deal. Plenty of YouTube vids on this. If going after the trans bearing you need an inner race puller which could be big $$, or like mine, it was worn to the point it slid off the shaft.

Actually have the race puller/installer tool. I already prepared for the inner primary bearing and got the baker one that doesn't use the bearing race. I'm just not looking forward to spendin the money on the transmission bearings and stuff if that's what it is.
