Found the part thru running down your earlier posts on the conversion noting the Ultima ignition you used and finding the data sheet that references the cup replacement and OE part number. Some how I over looked this ignition mod in my earlier research work otherwise it be done...Weather broke here at 65+ and I'm screwing with the bike of the lift. Part not stock at local HD so ordered on line.

I hope this is the last question before I ride into the sunset...
I see that HD states in the service manual to Use only special rivets (HD-8699) to prevent rivet ends don't fall into the timing compartment.
That's anywhere from $14-$17.00 depending source and shipping for what amount to (2) rivets.
Any alternative suggestion ??

You can rotate the outer plate/cover90 degrees and use the existing already tapped (at least on non-EFI bikes) holes with some screws. Don't remember the size off hand, probably 10-24 if I had to GUESS. Or you can get the right rivets, but with this job, you really need to make sure your timing is correct and that means buy or borrow a timing light. A simple timing light is pretty cheap. Here's one for $17.50:

Once you rivet the cover on, you have to drill it out again to change the timing. The correct rivets have closed ends. You can buy them from any real rivet supplier. I'm sure McMaster.com has them cheap. I just use an aftermarket cover and screws.

Don't forget to mark the sensor before you take it off, so you can put it back in at the same place.
