Default Injectors and Pinging

I put in the S/E heads and pistons along with the Andrews 13 cam but now have pinging in my '96 Ultra. As this was the first generation ECM and EFI, I can't download to change the ECM. I've opened the aftermarket knock-off Power Commander with only minimal help.

The dealer wants to sell melarger injectors and new ECM but a tech said increasing the fuel pressure at the regulator might work.

Any thoughts?

Do the larger injectors and get a real PC III usb. Find a local tuner with a Dynojet dyno, and they will dial you in. It's worth it.

Due to the age of the bike, a real Power Commander can't work. I'd have to dig real deep in my pockets to buy the larger injectors, new ECM, and new Power Commander and then go to to the dyno.

Last I checked, I had holes in my pocket.

get a s&s injecter/throttle body, variabletuner. larger injecters will not solve the problem.magnetti throttle body is only 38mm,you need to update to 42mm and change ecm if you cant get download

Default RE: Injectors and Pinging

A buddy of mine got frustrated and swapped his whole deal for a mukini 42 carb and crane ignition. I wasn't involved in the technicals but he was delighted with the results. Got some of his pieces on ebay.

This is entirely different I know, But on my oldest evo (86) I had the intake and carb upgraded (mikuni 42) and put on crane ignition and se breather and it works great. (EV27, too.) Why wouldn't it run on your bike if a guy knew what parts he needed?

The buddy just couldn't get that early injection to work well with stage 2. Maybe they just didn't know what they were doing?

With holes in pockets, lol, I've heard that the later stock carbs and a thunderslide kit along with the matching manifold would work OK. ?? That should be pretty cheap on ebay.

Ignore me, flame me, I know I'm an idiot, lol. I'm tough - have at me.

I have a 95 with EFI. The stage II kit comes with a new ECM that is adjustable. Also comes with cam and bigger injectors. Part number 29934-97b and ECM part number32423-97B.
