Default Tiny oil leak between head & cylinder

I just noticed a very small oil leak on the rear cylinder from the head gasket.&nbsp\\; Just enough to show on the top cylinder fin.&nbsp\\; Not wet, just a film of oil.&nbsp\\; Took about 500 miles since it was last washed to become noticeable.&nbsp\\; I just got this bike, so I don't know if it just started or has always been there.&nbsp\\; It's a '94 FXDS with 24K miles.&nbsp\\; Runs great and is quiet mechanically.&nbsp\\; Engine has never been taken apart.&nbsp\\;&nbsp\\;&nbsp\\;No measurable&nbsp\\;oil consumption so far.&nbsp\\; No mods other than mufflers.
&nbsp\\;
Seems like I remember hearing/reading something about this happening on some evos.&nbsp\\; This is my first EVO, so I don't know what's serious and what's not.
&nbsp\\;
Many thanks in advance for all info/opinions/advice!
&nbsp\\;
Ride safe,
&nbsp\\;
John

mine started out with a small wet spot at the base gasket then went to a small leak between the head and cylinder, turned out to be one of the head bolts was stripped out in the case.

Yep had mine pull the stud. You could be lucky and it's only a blown gasket.

oil can come out the upper pushtube cover o-ring or the center valve cover gasket, blow up and around and&nbsp\\;look like that.&nbsp\\;
&nbsp\\;
Thay's very low miles for a 94 and it could be the o-ring in the head gasket. Anyway, not terribly uncommon for a leak like that on an Evo. Always go easy on the throttle when it's cold started, keep it clean and keep an eye on it. I wouldn't panic until necessary

I'll look into this.&nbsp\\; Yeah, it's got pretty low miles for its age.&nbsp\\; I saw one just like it on ebay with only 11k on it!
&nbsp\\;
Thanks for the advice,

The small amount you describe would not excite me too much, I clean my bike
after each ride, that small of amount would be wiped off without much after thought,
nothing more than thinking perhaps of a winter project.

This was posted on another forum - not meant as a permanent repair,
but helps until you have time and or money for a proper repair.

I had the same thing on one of my Evo's.&nbsp\\; Try retightening the head bolts on the rear cylinder to spec.&nbsp\\; That might just cinch it up and fix it for good.&nbsp\\; I wasn't so lucky.&nbsp\\; That engine calls for a gasket w/o any adhesive/sealer.&nbsp\\; I ended up putting three of them on until I finally just put the damn sealer on it, and it was bulletproof from then on.&nbsp\\; Hope this helps, CCRyder

Thanks for the useful info!&nbsp\\; I've been keeping an eye on it and it seems to have stopped by itself.&nbsp\\; I'll keep watching it though.
&nbsp\\;
Thanks again and ride safe,
&nbsp\\;

Go to the automotive store and pick up some Permatex flowable silicone windshield &amp\\; glass sealer. The # on my tube is 65AR. Clean and dry surfaces to be sealed, apply glass sealer onto leak source, remove excess, let cure for 24 hours.

I used this product/method on my '91 FXRP and had no leaks after. Supposedly the glass sealer seeps it's way into the effected area sealing from the outside all the way to the inside and because it's silicone it can withstand the temperature of the motor.
