RE: cylinder stud torque
I \\;recently installed the shouldered studs on my EVO, and installed the shoulders down (into the block). I just bottomed out the stud, and then gave it a good tug to tighten it.
 \\;
I was looking at the Clymer manual a few weeks later, and noticed that the diagram showed I should have installed the studs with the shoulder up. The mechanic at the HD dealer confirmed what I saw in the manual. Oh well, too late.
 \\;
I'm not sure why you would need to torque them, but I'll listen.

The original factory studs up to '96 I believe, were installed shoulder up.
Then the stud design was changed, so all the new studs (even the ones you get from HD) are installed shoulder down - they talk about it in the EVO rebuild video, they just don't say anything about torque.
