89 FXR oil filter mounting base?
So I have a oil leak and it appears to be coming from the oil filter mount. How do you tighten this up? I looked in the book but it does not show this model. I do not see any type of screw that can be tightened. The mount base rotates about 1/2 inch so I would consider this loose. Also the large oil line 90 that connects to the mount is also loose. If I could get the mount off I could fix this as well.
Here is the link to the Schematic

it is part 220 that is in question.
Any help would be great!

There is a bolt that holds the filter mount in place. It's a pain in the *** to have to do it, but removing the rear wheel makes it a lot easier to work on. Then make a habit of re-tightening the bolt anytime you have the wheel off to keep from having the same problem in the future.

Mine was loose from the factory I guess (bought it with 12,000 miles) and I had to replace it cause the threads were bummed up. The HD part number is: 26350-85A
I have an FLT, so I just removed the seat and it was a straight shot. The bolt is directly in the center of the adapter and goes thru the rear of the transmission mount, just in front of the swingarm. There is a deep "V" groove that keeps it from turning, but you'll still need an extra hand when the bolt is half-way out because the v-groove isn't long enough.
This will all make sense when you get it off..........

I have the same problem "I think" parked the bike for the winter was all perfect, started it a while back and started puking oil.I couldnt find the source until today i noticed it looks like the leak is from the top of trans where the oil filter mounting bolt runs through the transmission itself. All the lines are tight no leaks but the top of transmission has a puddle around the mounting bolt.Could the actual mounting bolt be the cause?Any help appreciated

That long Canadian winter makes you anxious and ya wanna start your bike and make to make vroom vroom sounds. Any oil that may have made its way to the sump and combine that with letting it warm up and no trip and you get your symptoms. But then again you may have a leakyoil filter mount.

I had problems with mine recently and a slight leak. The fixing bolt we mentioned above simply holds the housing onto the rear of the trans, so any leak is more likely to be from one of the two hoses that supply and return the oil. I replaced my hoses, cleaned up and all is fine now (touch wood......).
