Happy birthday, USA!

GLORIOUS day here. Bunch of chores, but I was able to pull away for a couple hours for a ride. I don't get to Iowa often enough. It was nice to take the top down for a change.

The things you can catch on a trout rod... 24" and 8lbs. I hope you guys don't mind me sharing pics of my kayaking/fishing adventures... it's about as important to me as guns and motorcycles, and I try to do all of them equally. I just never stop and take pics when I ride.

Looks fine - did you put it back or eat it?! And what is it, for the non-fishermen amongst us?

Released her to go make more babies. I don't keep many bass, especially trophy bass. Big females like that lay a lot of eggs.

The species of this would be the Largemouth Bass, and specifically, the Florida Largemouth Bass.

Why fish if you ain't gonna eat it???
Fishing to me has always been long periods of boredom inter spaced with short periods of excitement.JMO

Bass isn't the greatest tasting fish in the water, and if you kill all of your big breeder females you won't have anymore fish to catch for much longer anyways. I only keep just over minimum fish if I do keep any... for example, speckled trout in Texas are 15-25, I won't keep one much over 18". It's all about conservation for me. Nothing pisses me off more than seeing a bunch of stupid rednecks keeping whatever they can stick a hook in. Also, if you learn how to fish it will be excitement the whole time.
