1998 EVO FLH- To Buy or Not to Buy
#11
If I were you, I would spend the extra 2 grand and buy the RK. I had a 2003 Road King and loved it. I had over 40 thousand miles on her, and never did anything with the twin cams. Anway, I upgraded to a 2009 Street Glide last year. people will give you there opinion all day long, you need to decide for yourself.

Everyone disses the M&M EFI but I have put 5000 miles on mine this season without a problem and that's after doing stage 1 and a cam upgrade with the addition of a DFO. It may not be the best setup in the world but switching to a carb wouldn't be too complicated, with all the instructions available on the web.

With the lack of experienced people to work on an outdated , sometime troublesome out of production fuel injection system, knowingly buying one will come back and bite you in the butt. Maybe not today, but at a time when you really want to ride or take a trip. Harley realised they weren't the best setup and were compelled to find a better replacement ,so the delphi fi sytems took their place. Parts for the mm are getting harder to get as is accurate troubleshooting of problems. I'm glad yours is working fine but I passed up several fi bikes for a carbed bike. I'm guessing I could fix a mm fi bike, but I know I can fix a carbed bike faster.,,

I have a 1998 FLHRCI with 78K on it. I bought it around 62K and paid 8K 4 yrs back. The only problems I have had is when the stealer touched it. I like the fuel injection with the evo. It has been very reliable thus far and people are surprised when they hear the mileage and age.
The mileage at this level doesn't bother me in the least, so 27K is barely broke in, the way I see it.
