'96 RK Project ... Head Cylinder Help
The bike is a '96 Road King with 108k miles I recently purchased for a project. I have started taking things apart and have gotten into the motor looking for a noise I was told about at time of purchase, I'm guessing lifters.
Anyway, I found the pistons marked .030, which I think is max on them ... also found small cracks from the spark plug hole to the valve seats ... seats are not cracked.
What are my options with the cylinders? I'm guessing replacement but haven't contacted the machine shop I use yet.
What are my options with the heads? Are they Ok to use after getting the valves redone? I only ask because if I had not removed the heads I would not have known about the cracks and would have continued to run them.
Keep in mind this is a project bike for me and not my main rider. I'm retired and on a fixed income so don't spend too much of my money.
I appreciate any and all help ...
