May be that it's thirty degrees. How well do you run in that temp?

Does it always run like crap in below freezing temps or is this something new?

OP stated it ran good the other day. I gather it was warmer the other day. With wide temp swings this time of year moisture and condensation with produce gremlins. I wouldn't do anything until the weather moderates.

Default running like crap

rule of thumb on the carb what ever kind popping through the pipes shutting down to rich, popping in carb on take off to lean change out low speed jet.
if running crappy in general check out your manifold rubbers or gaskets i live in the N.E. ride in 30-40 degrees no probs. also pull bowl check it out pull jets blow out just to be sure..

What slow jet are you running?...you'll need a 48 in that sort of weather..maybe even a 50....and have you removed the idle mixture seal? I did mine yesterday (Got the bike from CA) and it was only 1/4 turn out from the factory!!!! No wonder it took an age to warm up!

I wouldn't think the cold weather would make it run bad. I'm not sure what year they stopped using the rubber compliance fittings for the carb/manifold, but if yours has them, one could have a small leak. Does it run rough at idle and low rpms but better at highway speeds???

I had the carb set up when I got the bike as well as pipes I do remember them putting in a thunderslide and drilling out something that was along time ago when I purchased it oct. of 97 inwhich it is a 98. I might just wait a little and try her again but in mean time I am going to check the vacum hose to the voes also looka at the carb How can I check the intake gaskets and rubber boot for the stock carb for leaks thanks again
