I got caught in an extremely hard rainfall. Afterwaqrds, my 1988 FLHS had a high idle that would not come down. It was at approx 1500 prm. It also built up heat fast. My first guess is the VOES is bad, and the ignition curve is advanced because of it. Any other suggestions other than replacxing the VOES? Does anybody think it could be my ignition module?
Tried blowing everything off with compressed air? Also spray exposed electrical connections with WD-40, will pull the moisture out. Unplug them and spry a little on them. That's my thought on a cheap first round.
First check for leaks, Like intake manifold. Spray carb cleaner around and listen for changes in RPM. Double check and clean electrical connections, especially any related to your ignition.
My '94 will do this, too. Especially since I installed a Mikuni HSR42 and SE air cleaner on it. Seems to be related to something in the carb/ air cleaner. After it dries off, everything is fine again.
