Default Replaced Lifters and Rods

Just replaced the rods and lifters with vThunder lifters and SE EZ install rods. I got rid of the major noise that was coming from a lifter with a bad roller on it, but I still have a little noise in there that comes and goes. I've only got about 20 miles on it since the swap, but is there some sort of break in period for these until they quiet down? Running an EV-27 cam.

not with a andrews cam, you will always have valve train noise. and if someone tells you theirs is quiet, they have loud exhaust! lol

You said noise comes and goes. Does it come and go based around engine temp, engine rpm, or under load? Did you check cam end play?

Not true...

I have an EV 27, no valvetrain noise, and quiet pipes.

Well then, you are definitely in the minority, I've installed three ev27's for people, and all three have had some sort of valve train noise, excessive, no, more than stock, yes !

It's not terrible, and a good sight better than it was before the swap. It comes and goes based on nothing at all. At constant speed and operating temp I'll notice it coming and going. I figured there would be a little noise as this engine has ALWAYS had valvetrain noise.

I have an EV-27 in my bike and have valve train noise ,that is not uncommen. If you do not have the correct end play in your cam the thrust washer will make some weired cam noises. Andrew recomends .010-.015 end play in the EV-27. you will have to shim the cam with a .050-.060 cam shim. You would be supprised on how many people just put the cam in with out checking end play . O one other thing make sure you change the inner cam bearing to a Torrington bearing .

When I had an EV27 cam, it was noisy. That's one reason I no longer have it.

The higher lift you go, the more valve train noise you'll have with an Evo. This is due to the valve train geometry, just look at the angles of your push rod tubes. That's probably the only major improvement of a Twinkie over an Evo.

However, at the same engine speed and operating temperature, the amount of noise should be pretty consistent. As stated before, I would check your cam end play if the amount of noise changes for no reason at all.
