well, i was bidding on a few crane hi 4 ignitions on ebay, and (sorta by mistake) i ended up winning a new dual fire ignition (just the ignition, not the coil or module)...$130....so i hope it will do the trick

any of you all have this specific ignition...that is with the stock coil and module?

Thanks for the replies guys. I guess my bike will be getting a Crane Hi 4. I like having options available for future engine mods and it sounds like this will be capable of handling anything I put into the engine.

Well after a little research it looks like the part I'll be looking for is the 8-1100 Hi 4 (dual fire) because I had to install new stator and coil to get the bike running last winter (running Accel coil and stator) and stayed with dual fire.

Is the Crane Hi 4 a plug in item? (Unplug the stocker and plug in the Crane?) Does it make an appreciable difference? The link from FXSTGUY say's an upgraded ignition is the best improvement you can make. Should this be the case it certainly gets my vote over an upgradecam installation which I would probably screw up.
