RE: best ignition for evo???
Are you sure about the points? Mines a 98 and it's electronic from the factory. Here is a good read about ignition modules, about 3/4 of the way down the page.

Forgot to mention that I'm going to my HD dealer today and putting a SE ignition module on order......winter mods, woohoo.

RE: best ignition for evo???
I have a 98 wide glide with SE electronic ignition. Ignition went out and had my custom cycle shop (not a Harley dealer) install what he recommended. A Daytona Twin Tech ignition, which can be used as single fire or dual fire by changing the coil. According to who's definition you useof a single fire or dual fire, I kept mine as original from the factory, both plugs firing on power and exhaust stroke. Motor runs smoother and crisper especially at low and midrange rpm.

RE: best ignition for evo???
I've got a question along the same lines as this thread and rather than starting a new thread I'll see what happens here first...
I've got a stock engine '98 FXDS-Conv. that I'm going through this winter. I'll be adding EV27 cam, porting the heads, adding a K&N air filter, and upgrading the ignition module.
Now the question... SE or Dyno 2000 ignition?

I have tried them all SE, programablesthe best that I have found is the Crane single fire you have allot of options. You can set it upas a dual or single, retard or advance the timming depending on if you are having problems with detonation. I have 3 Evo's two are strokers and all have a Crane and run great.
