Default Hayden oil fix, pigtails, or James metal base gasket

I am doing top end on my stock 1991 FLT and will be fixing typical rear cylinder base leak while apart. Can anyone tell me if the James metal base gasket will succesfully fix this leak or can it only be fixed with a Hayden oil fix or pigtails. Reason I am asking is, I have read several posts where Hayden oil fix was used and after around 100 milesito trip, oil backed up into rocker cover and leaking at rocker due to slow down of oil passing through to motor case. It is reasonable that the Hayden or pigtails kit would decrease the size of the return hole to the cases. I have seen several people say that the James metal base gaskets alone witll fix the leak. Any ideas. Thanks!!

MY bike has had pigtails for longer than I've owned her. I just did the base gaskets and could see no evidence that oil backed up in the rocker boxes.

I used Cometic gaskets to do the rebuild.

I have a Hayden Oil fix for sale (didn't know I had the pigtails until I took it apart) and I'll let it go cheap in case you decide to use one.

Good luck!

my personal experience:

I've used stock, james, and cometic base gaskets and none of them worked to fix the rear cylinder seep.

I got the Hayden oil fix, installed the pigtails and new stock gaskets, and it fixed it.

Hayden and pigtails? Both?

The pigtails on my bike are tapped and threaded into the jug. I don't think Haydens install that way.

I am confused what to do. I had read several past comments that after a long ride, the Hayden or the pigtails could make oil back up in rocker boxes and oil would leak from rocker boxes. Can anyone tell me who I could order the pigtails from? Thanks,

Have your machinist flatten the bottom surface of the cylinder.
