Misfire under load. 85 FLHTC

1985 FLHTCU with intermittent sputters too, top end just rebuilt, butterfly carb rebuilt, new wires and spark plugs. Did notice that there is a 52 and 175 jet on this beauty, swapped ignition module and coils with presumed good used ones. Just a cough low and high range and no real power loss. No vacuum leaks. Cautiously riding but after having to lay down a few dead presidents I hope I don't hurt it by continuing to run it.
As recommended check all wires thoroughly going to ignition pickup. Also verify all grounds are nice and clean.

Since my post here almost a year and a half I can tell you that when I put on a new S&S Shorty Super E this summer it took care of my issues of hesitation and ruff running under load, and gave my ride more performance than it ever had.
Junk the Keihin butterfly carb and you will be amazed at the performance too.
May not be the answer for everyone. Do the basic tests to make sure it's not something simple and inexpensive first! I had rebuilt my carb and even put in an Anderson accelerator pump kit, and I'm sorry I wasted so many hours, days, weeks, and years running that crappy old carb and trying to make it work!!!

The description sounds just like a fuel issue. I am cleaning tank liner out of my left tank. I had bit of liner make it into the carb and it clogged the main jet. Bike idled fine and it could go unless I tried to accelerate with any power all I would get was spitting and sputtering.
Pull the carb, disassemble and clean with copious amounts of carb cleaner (I like B-12).
