Default New Thunderheader review

Installed a black thunderheader on my 88 flhtc. It was kind of a wrestling match getting it into the exhaust ports correctly. Other than that, it fits the bike really good! I didn't go with the heat shields cause they are stupid expensive. The trans mounting bracket is pretty thick, and all the welds on the pipe look better than a lot of the Thunderheaders I have seen. Time will tell how it holds up. I didn't do the baffle mod yet. I am gonna try to get the old girl on a dyno soon to get everything dialed in as close as possible. I did reset the s&s carb to factory settings and set it from there. Seems close with the jetting I have in the carb now. It is a fairly quiet pipe at idle. Kind of a deeper rumble. Going through the gears is a different story. Around 2800 rpm and up, this thing starts pulls hard, and is loud! Like a high-performance loud. Revs faster, too. What a HUGE difference over the drag pipes that were on it before. Unfortunately, I find myself riding harder than I did before, too. That midrange hit is fun, and the sound of this pipe has me grinning ear to ear.

Thumbs up

I picked up 15% more torque in the mid-range with my 2-into-1, so I am not surprised you are pleased! Post pics.....

Thunderheader is the best sounding and one of the best performance 2-1 going but always had the quality and fitment baggage with it. Keep us informed
